Question:
Can I share the CA InterTest for CICS checkpoint file FCT PROTCPF between multiple CICS regions?
Answer:
During the base install of CA InterTest for CICS you are instructed to define a checkpoint file FCT PROTCPF.
The checkpoint file is used by the check pointing facility to periodically record the status of the CA InterTest for CICS monitoring options so you can use the restart feature.
The checkpoint file is also used in a CICSPLEX environment to keep track of breakpoints in a particular CICS region.
If configuration option CICSPLEX=YES then the checkpoint facility is started by a CICSPLEX resynchronization request.
If either or both of these features are used then the checkpoint file is mandatory and you must have a unique checkpoint file for each CICS region.
The checkpoint file cannot be shared between CICS regions. If you are not using these features then the checkpoint file is optional.
