Issue/Introduction

After installing both Pulse VPN 9.1R11 based on the Apple SDK 11.3, And any version of Symantec Endpoint Protection designed for MACOS BIG SUR you notice that

HTTPS traffic is slow and or fails completely for various sites regardless of being in a VPN tunnel or not.

Environment

Mac OS 11.x to current Mac Beta
Pulse client 9.1R11 WITH the concentrator configured for 'Content Enforcement'
Symantec Endpoint Protection for Mac versions 14.3.ru1,  14.3.ru1.mp1 and 14.3.ru1.mp2

Cause

An issue with the Pulse VPN client version 9.1R11 was identified that when the concentrator is configured to force the VPN client to use and install the 'Pulse content filter' system Extension a Apple system Extension conflict occurs with SEP.

When both the Pulse content filter and the Symantec Endpoint Protection Network Content Filter are enabled HTTPS traffic becomes unstable.

A fix is underway from that vendor.  This is not a Symantec Endpoint Protection for MAC client issue.

Resolution

Pulse is producing a new client build that will resolve the issue.  Please contact Pulse for details on Pulse Client  9.1R12 based on SDK 12.
