For CSM 6.0. Is it mandatory that FTP is used?

Issue/Introduction

Running CSM 6.0. Is it mandatory that FTP is used? Or can everything be done with only HTTP ? I see in the settings I have HTTP proxy and FTP proxy settings.

Resolution

It is not mandatory to use FTP. Under settings, system settings, software acquisition, select "Use HTTPS for downloads" and click Apply:

 

With this CSM will only use HTTPS sites supportservices.ca.com and sdownloads.ca.com. It does not matter if proxies are being used or not. If you have an FTP proxy it will not be used.
