failed to access robots - Robot name is invalid error observed

Issue/Introduction

When trying to access robots from admin console (path: login Admin Console -> select Hub -> select Robots), the error “Robot name is invalid” is observed:

 

Environment

Release : 9.x, 20.x

Component : UIM - ROBOT

Resolution

The error is observed when robot name consists of special character at the end of the Robot name like follows:

This is working as designed.

Please remove the special character from the end of the Robot name from controller GUI, restart the robot for the changes to take effect to resolve the issue

 

Additional Information

Note:

(a) You could run into issues when upgrading existing UIM if domain and hub address contains the special character period . , this could lead to serious implications to the whole environment which may include security reset, robots reconfiguration due to unresolvable address due to the special character period . 

(b) Therefore, we do not encourage usage of special characters either in Robot name (or) hostname, kindly refer the following document for more details:
