Issue/Introduction

We are trying to update our current version of Clarity and it fails with an error and the upgrade cannot be completed

checkinstall.sh fails and seems that the database is not compatible, this is the message:

The database version could not be validated as a member of the supported versions. Current database info: Oracle Database 18c Enterprise Edition Release 18.0.0.0.0 - Production. Check the checkinstall.log for connection errors. Refer to the Product Architecture Stack (PAS) for supported database versions.

Is there a way to make this upgrade work with our current database version?

Environment

Release : Any

Component : CLARITY INTEGRATIONS & INSTALLATIONS

Resolution

  • Unfortunately Oracle 18 is not supported and it is not possible to make the upgrade  or even Clarity work with it. It's not tested and certified and using it will not work and very likely lead to data issues.
  • You have to upgrade Oracle to release 19 and then everything will go nicely.
  • Check out the Release Notes with our Compatibilities here:

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/business-management/clarity-project-and-portfolio-management-ppm-on-premise/15-8-1/release-information/Hardware-and-Software-Compatibility-Specifications.html

  • Once you are on Oracle 19 just re-run the script and it should go through.
