Issue/Introduction

Our security operation center reached out to me on an alert (shown below) on our Data Repository node.  I think it's relating to the nightly vertica database backup/shapshot.  They were requesting an explanation

What is the vbr.py program?

Dx NetOps Performance Management any version

Cause

Vertica's backup script

Resolution

 vbr.py is the Vertica backup script, and the only supported method of backing up the Vertica database.  It may also be called by a scheduled backup cron job
