Instructions to update the binary files on a MOI appliance after PTF's have been applied

Issue/Introduction

After PTF's have been applied to the mainframe MOI libraries, additional steps are required to transfer and install the updated binary files on the MOI appliance.  Instructions on how to perform this update are included in this document.

 

Resolution

Please follow these steps for each MOI appliance that needs to be updated:

• Apply any needed PTFs to your 2.0.* z/OS MOI Installation libraries.

The PTF's  contain the updated RPM changes.

• Deploy copies of the updated RPM’s to your  appliance from the MLSS ISPF Install panels:

Select  8 - Deploy

 Select option 1 - Deploy Property Files then press Enter. Please ensure that you receive a successful deploy message.

 Select option 2  - Deploy Binary RPMs then press Enter. Please ensure that you receive a successful deploy message.

 PF3 to exit the deploy step if both steps above completed successfully. 

•  Update and reboot the appliance from the MLSS ISPF Manage panels:

 Select 9 - Advanced Commands

 Select 12 – Update then press Enter.

 Select 1 – Resend then press Enter.  This step may take a few minutes to complete.  Please ensure that you receive a successful send completion message.

 Select  2 – Reboot then press Enter.  Your MOI appliance will be rebooted in a few minutes.

 PF3 to exit the Update option if both steps above completed successfully. 

Please note that the updates that you transferred to the MOI appliance will be installed automatically by the reboot.    It may take up to 20 - 30 minutes for all of the MOI micro-services to display a healthy status.
