Issue/Introduction

This is a technical article documenting an issue where the primary hub queue baseline_engine.QOS_MESSAGE backs up and does not send any items.

Symptoms of this issue:

  • queue baseline_engine.QOS_MESSAGE is yellow or red status under the Hub GUI -> Status tab.
  • An alarm might be visible in the UIM Console stating the baseline_engine.QOS_MESSAGE queue is XXX MB in size.

Environment

Release : 20.1

Component : UIM - BASELINE_ENGINE

Resolution

1. Deactivate the baseline_engine probe on the primary hub robot.

2. Right click the baseline_engine probe, open the Raw Configure.

3. Expand start up, go to opt and change the below settings:

Key = java_mem_max
- Change value to: -Xmx3072m

Key = java_mem_init
- Change value to: -Xms512m

4. Save the changes and apply the config. The window should now close.

5. Reactivate the probe.

Note: If it turns green starts to drain and then eventually crashes, this might be due to the number of queued items. if this happens restart the probe and monitor. Repeat this step until the queue is drained and down to a manageable level for the probe to handle.
