Issue/Introduction

Are there plans to upgrade the java runtime delivered with the Gen 8.6 installation of 1.8.0?  If yes, what are the periods for such upgrades?

Resolution

Gen 8.6 was delivered to include Java 8 Runtime support that targeting 1.6.  A PTF was delivered that provided Java 11 Runtime support (targeting 11).

An upcoming PTF will deliver a modified Java 8 Runtime, this time targeting 1.8.  There will be no change for the Java 11 Runtime.
Since there are plans to certify support for OpenJDK, Java 8 will be supported for several years.  It is not anticipated to be redelivering the Java 8 Runtime after this PTF.
