Iteration and Release Field Missing for a User Story

Issue/Introduction

I'm trying to schedule a user story into an iteration or release, but I'm unable to. The fields are missing from the story, and I can't add them. 

Environment

Release : SAAS

Component : API FOR AGILE CENTRAL

Cause

Usually, this issue is caused because the story you are trying to schedule is a parent. 

Resolution

Parent stories can't be scheduled into timeboxes such as Iteration or Releases because the work the story describes has been delegated to the child stories. Instead of scheduling the parent the child stories would scheduled instead. If there is still work being represented in the parent that isn't accounted for in any of the children a new child story should be created to account for that work. Then that child story can be scheduled.
