Issue/Introduction

We notice that when we convert some Ideas into Projects, using templates, the Project Finish Date is not the same as the Idea Finish Date. Why is this?

Environment

Version: 15.9.1

Resolution

The Finish Date of the project can be set to the Finish Date of the Idea only in the following scenarios:

  1. If there are no Tasks within the template that is used for conversion
  2. If the duration of the template is less than the duration of the Idea. That is if the Finish Date of the Idea is greater than Finish Date on the template. And if the Start Date on the Idea is less than the Start Date on the template.

From a Project Management perspective, this is an expected outcome, because:

  1. The Idea is now a Project that has to conform to a set of standards defined in the template
  2. Say, if the template defines that the Project has to be for a duration of 1 yr, then it is natural that an Idea which was only for a duration of 3 months, is extended to the time frame of the project.
