Issue/Introduction

Attempting to test sending alerts to NetCool using NCREQ. Due to network security requirements in our company, there is an EIF "probe" server that we must target when using NCREQ.

The Event Integration Facility toolkit expands the types of events and system information that can be monitored. It can be used to develop your own adapters, which are tailored to your environment. The Event Integration Facility is a separate installation package from the main Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus product.

I tested the NCREQ with this EIF "probe" server IP address and port configured as both the host and proxy server in the ENV file for USS (separately) but still receive the same HTTP error: HTTP username must be specified with an HTTP auth level of basic. Message from DEBUG copied below:

sendRequest NETCOOL rc=x'601' rsn=x'00' An HTTP username must be specified with an HTTP auth level of basic.

Resolution

Prior to R14.0, NCREC can be used only with an actual Netcool server.

Starting with R14.0 review the ADDRESS USS NCREC section of the OPS/MVS manual for usage information.
