Contract Resources with Multiple Rates

Issue/Introduction

We have several contract resources that are charging different rates per task (role) that they are supporting in a project.  We currently have the Rate by Individual Contract Resource.  How can I add multiple rates for a single resources to be used based on task / Role??

Resolution

The easiest way to accomplish this is to have both Resource and Role columns in the matrix.

Then you can create a separate row based on the resource/desired role. 

WIP transactions will look at the row in the matrix that matches (Resource/Role on the task) and use that rate for WIP.

One thing to be aware of, is that if you are using earned value costs (not WIP) the task will use the role on the team record and not the individual tasks.

•   Team Role = Project Manager
•   Task 1 = Business Analyst
•   Task 2 = Developer

The ETC cost and any baseline costs will use the rate associated with the Team.  ACWP will also use the team role not the task role.

WIP will use the rate associated with the task.  Any reporting should use WIP transactions to get the correct costs.
