"Microsoft Software Assessment Task" follows the schedule specified under "Default Microsoft Update Configuration Policy" (SMP Console > Settings menu > Agents/Plug-ins > Software > Patch Management > Windows). By default, this policy is turned off.
This task was introduced to address very specific patching scenarios/needs.
