Issue/Introduction

Adding a new LAPR. I used the DEFDIV REXX to build the SYSCHK1 dataset. What is the best way to populate the file?  Or am I better off copying/renaming the file from an existing LPAR?

Environment

Release : 13.5 14.0

Component : OPS/MVS

Resolution

If the new LPAR is similar to the other ones, meaning that the same tasks are active (or almost the same) it is better to copy the SYSCHK1 file from another LPAR. You will be copying all the RDF tables (including SSM tables) and global variables.
If the new LPAR is different from the others it may be worth running the SNAPSHOT process to create the SSM tables from scratch.
Usually it is better to just copy the SYSCHK1 file.
