After a failed r12 SP1 upgrade from 11.3.6 SP7, we were forced to clean up the environment to rerun a fresh installation:

The SharedComponents directory still existed and still contained some EEM related directories (CADirectory/EmbeddedEntitlementsManager) which weren't completely cleaned up.
default location: /opt/CA/SharedCompenents
Delete /opt/CA/SharedComponents directory.
