Traps from Performance Management are not being received

CA Performance Management - Usage and Administration DX NetOps


Is there a log or some utility that shows information on traps that have been sent? Users are stating that they are not receiving all traps from CAPM. Need to verify that traps are being sent to a specific set of IPs.

A Notification Rule was configured in DX NetOps Performance Management (PM) Performance Center (PC) to send traps when specific Events are seen. The traps are not consistently received by the destination.

In the (default path) /opt/CA/PerformanceCenter/EM/logs/EMService.log file the following errors can be seen.

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases


An Operating System or Network issue is causing the failure to allow the traps to be sent.

The message from the logs indicates the first attempt to send the trap failed and that it's trying again. Three attempts to send the trap are made in total.


The message from the logs indicates that there is an Operating System or network issue preventing the successful send of the trap to its destination.
