Issue/Introduction

 

If using WORM drives during the MERGE, backspacing the tape is not allowed and causes the I/O
supervisor to raise an error

Resolution

With LT00353 LT01730 LT03243 LT03927,

there was an error in the SMPe packaging with code and the apply order.  These APARs are replaced by:

 1) LT04726 which is the Phase 2 which provides the new Z record changes for data set errors when we can’t backspace. 

and

2) LT04727 which is the diagnostic Phase 3 APAR for retrying the writes the primary and copy are out of sync at EOV. 

 This happens only when the IOCHNBLK sysparm is set to higher than 1.
