Issue/Introduction

I do not have authority to logon to the CA Dispatch application.

Is there a console command available to force CA Dispatch to use a new archive tape rather than appending on to an existing tape?

11.6,11.7, CA Dispatch, clear, active, archive, volser, command

Resolution

You can use the CLEAR command which closes the active Archive Volser. The command can be executed in the following ways:

– Execute the task from the Enter Next Task Code prompt.
– Execute the task from the console.
– Submit a UCFBAT job, which executes in batch mode.

Use the following command syntax from the Enter Next Task Code prompt and Batch:

CLEAR option

Use the following command syntax from the console:

R xx,99CLEAR option

Command options include:

CLEAR ALL                  - (all TAPE and OPTICAL volsers for all archive tasks)
CLEAR ALLTAPE         - (all TAPE volsers for all archive tasks)
CLEAR ALLOPTI         - (all OPTICAL volsers for all archive tasks)
CLEAR ARCHxTAPE   - (only the TAPE volser for the archive task specified by x)
CLEAR ARCHxOPT     - (only the TAPE volser for the archive task specified by x)
