"Insert disk1 or type its location" when upgrading WA Agent on i5/OS (AS/400)

Issue/Introduction

WA Agent for i5/OS upgrade does not complete and shows this message:

Please insert insert disk1 or type its location.

A javacore file may also be generated in the WA Agent install directory.

 

Environment

Release : 11.5 / R12

Component : CA ESP WKLD AUTOMATION SYSTEM AGENT 

Cause

The JavaCore should be inspected by IBM.  The message is likely related to memory usage.  

Dump Event "systhrow" (00040000) Detail "java/lang/OutOfMemoryError" "Failed to create a thread: retVal -1073741830, errno 11" received

• The above error is usually due to:
• 1. The system run out of memory to use for the new thread. Threads require memory for internal JVM structures, a Java™ stack, and a native stack.
• 2. There are too many threads already running and the system run out of internal resources to create new threads.

Resolution

Make sure the agent is shutdown when doing an upgrade.
