Package Server continuously trying to download 3 packages and found 0kb sized files in ...\Package Delivery\GUID\Cache folder

Issue/Introduction

Package server has some retrying packages and it tries to redownload them every second. 

Errors in the logs included:

• Failed to download package '{95B9E17D-2EE1-4146-ADCB-6B9188355F54}' from: http://xxxx/Altiris/NS/NSCap/bin/Win32/X86/Software%20Management/Wise%20Toolkit, local blocks: 0/1, error: HTTP status 404: The requested URL does not exist on the server or the server is down (0x8FA10194)
• Failed to download package '{95B9E17D-2EE1-4146-ADCB-6B9188355F54}' from: \\xxxx\NSCap\bin\Win32\X86\Software Management\Wise Toolkit, local blocks: 0/1, error: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003)
• Failed to download package '{95B9E17D-2EE1-4146-ADCB-6B9188355F54}' from: https://xxxx/Altiris/NS/NSCap/bin/Win32/X86/Software%20Management/Wise%20Toolkit, local blocks: 0/1, error: HTTP status 404: The requested URL does not exist on the server or the server is down (0x8FA10194)
• Error while downloading package: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003)
• Error while downloading package: HTTP status 404: The requested URL does not exist on the server or the server is down (0x8FA10194)
• Error while downloading package: No server found

Environment

ITM 8.x

 

Cause

Checked the file content in the folder Package Delivery>GUID>Cache folder. Files were created but the size was 0kb

Resolution

Delete the current files with 0kb size, in the cache folder.

Checked the source for these 3 retrying packages on the NS, but they don't exist: 

• NSCap\bin\Win32\X86\Software Management\
• NSCap\bin\Deployment\Packages\CopyFiles

Copy these 3 files from another Package Server and put them in the NS at the appropriate location which this Package Server is looking to download them.
