SAP job failing: No RFC authorization for function module BAPI_XBP_VARIANT_DELETE.

Issue/Introduction

After an upgrade from v10 to v12.35, SAP job is failing with the following error message in the agent log:

2021-06-07 20:55:47 - U02000005 Job '3190_QG4_100#RFSSLD00#P_30_3190' with RunID '1648772' started.
2021-06-07 20:55:47 - U02004018 The job was successfully interpreted.
2021-06-07 20:55:47 R3_DELETE_VARIANT REP=RFSSLD00,VAR='C_30_3190'
2021-06-07 20:55:47 - U02004007 Error 'JCO_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE' in 'BAPI_XBP_VARIANT_DELETE' call.
2021-06-07 20:55:47 Keine RFC-Berechtigung für Funktionsbaustein BAPI_XBP_VARIANT_DELETE.
2021-06-07 20:55:47 - U02004015 Could not delete variant 'C_30_3190' of report 'RFSSLD00' ('Keine RFC-Berechtigung für Funktionsbaustein BAPI_XBP_VARIANT_DELETE.').
2021-06-07 20:55:47 - U02004025 Job-script execution was aborted.

 

 

The line below means: No RFC authorization for function module BAPI_XBP_VARIANT_DELETE.

Resolution

Based on the error message, there seems to be a permission issue on the SAP user or CPIC user used in the Login object. Please check with the SAP Basis Administrator if the CPIC user has proper permission rights to delete a SAP Variant.
