Issue/Introduction

Upgrade issue when upgrading from IT Management Suite 8.1 RU7 to 8.6 and receiving the following errors:

A critical error occurred:
Product failed to install. See logs for details.

Configuration failed while attempting: Configure Pluggable Protocols... 

The SMP logs showed the following error:

Failed to install product. Credential load failed. The credential d0c6dd30-3e21-4414-8ef5-f010d97df6ea has expired.

In the bottom panel of the Altiris log viewer, more information is displayed about the error highlighted in grey above as seen here:

Double-click the GUID highlighted in yellow above and you will see the following Item Browser information:

We see that the GUID refers to the "WMI Credential for Default Connection Profile".

Environment

IT Management Suite (ITMS) 8.1 RU7 upgrade to ITMS 8.6

Cause

The Expiration Date for the "WMI Credential for Default Connection Profile" had been accidentally enabled as shown here:

Resolution

  1. In the SMP Console go to Settings>All Settings>Monitoring and Alerting>Credential Settings>Credentials Management.
  2. In the right panel, choose the "WMI Credential for Default Connection Profile" and then click on the pencil icon. You will see the following pop-up:



  3. Unclick the "Expiration Date" box (highlighted in yellow above).
  4. Click OK.
