Issue/Introduction

The out of box Portlet titled Project Life Cycle Review is not honoring the filter selection for methodology (aka Template). We have projects that were created using Templates and our intent is to use this portlet to determine progress for projects that were created using specific templates. The content shows up only when the template is set to All in the filter. Following Screen image reflects list of projects created using templates

Following image reflects no content when the portlet is run with the filter set to desired Template

Resolution

After presenting the concern to Product Management regarding the Project Lifecycle Review Portlet not honoring a filter by methodology or template, a use case was raised where you may want projects that were not created directly from a template in that portlet, so you would use the Methodology field. The Methodology field should automatically get filled in for the new project created from a template, if it is set to on the template. If a project is created without a template it would not have a value unless there is a default value in Studio on that field.

For example - this stock template has it set.

If you create a new project from this template, the Methodology field is set. So we recommend checking all the templates and making sure the field is set. Then, for existing projects, all you have to do is a one time update to this field if it is blank, or it could be that existing projects were not created from a template, so if you want these projects also to go into the portlet set the Methodology field. In short you can check the Methodology field on the actual template itself to see if it is populated. If so, then when the project is created from that template it should copy over.
