Issue/Introduction

When configuring the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) Controller connection, you provide the correct username, password, IP and port information, but instead get below error -

Error: SEPM returned 500 internal server error status code 

Cause

Unsupported special characters used in admin password.

Resolution

You cannot use a SEPM administrator with a password that contains these special characters: @$#`%^&+=[]{}|\;:",<>/?
Change the password for the SEPM account and use the characters as specified in Product Documentation
