Issue/Introduction

Am I required to have SMS routines set-up for SG, SC, DC and MC to get the tapes to mount to VTS?

Resolution

This problem is completely removed from CA1 involvement, but rather is entirely controlled by SMS (CA1 doesn't get involved with the allocation itself, as far as device assignments).  You will definitely need to make changes of some kind to SMS to get the tape units/volumes to be used, and you should get with your storage administrator to see what, if any, ACS rules might be involved here.  The main things to focus on would be the assigned SMS STORCLAS, and the associated STORGRP, which itself determines what devices actually get assigned and used.
