Issue/Introduction

Users are unable to execute some event (EVNT) objects even though they appear to have the appropriate permissions or are a part of a UserGroup that appears to have the appropriate permissions

The Event has no login object associated with it

The Event fails with the Details:

Status: FAULT_OTHER - Start impossible. Other error.

Return code  0

Last message U00000009 'EVNT.NAME': Access denied

Event ID 12345678

 

Turning on SECURITY_AUDIT_FAILURE:

in UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS create Key SECURITY_AUDIT_FAILURE, set Value 1 to OBJECT_ACCESS;HOST_ACCESS;LOGON;USER_PRIVILEGES
As an administrator in the client where the user is having problems, Go to Messages window
Click settings in upper-right of messages window
Be sure that "Security" is checked
In a separate tab, login as the user seeing the Access denied and reproduce the error

 

The Messages window will now show another message like:

U00004511 Access violation: User: 'USER/DEPT' Privilege: '0000000000' Reason: The user has no right for this privilege.

Cause

The user is missing the Privilege that allows for starting events without a login object

Resolution

As an admin user:

Edit the user object that is having the Access denied message, or one of the user groups that user belongs to
Go to the privileges tab of the user or usergroup object
Check Privilege "FileEvents: Start without Login object specified"
Save

The User should now be able to run the event without seeing this error.
