Issue/Introduction

Having a problem during base install or CARS maintenance of CA DATABASE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS FOR DB2 (DB2 Tools)

SystemError has occurred. The cause is ExecutionFailedException.
  Additional Diagnostic Data:
    An unexpected error has occurred while creating temporary space for mountpoint 
      /appl/cacsm/u/users/msmserv/mpm/tmproot, dataset name SUPT.OMVS.ZD00.APPL.CACSM.T561, primary tracks 1000, 
      secondary tracks 1000 in the security context of the server.

Resolution

This looks like an environmental issue that was resolved by unlinking the ioeagfmt symbolic and relinking it:

• unlink /parentpath/msmruntime/tomcat/lib/ioeagfmt 
• ln -e IOEAGFMT /parentpath/msmruntime/tomcat/lib/ioeagfmt 

If it still fails try using rm instead of unlink, like this:

• cd /parentpath/msmruntime/tomcat/lib/
• rm ioeagfmt  
• ln -e IOEAGFMT ioeagfmt

 

If the problem is associated with the installation of CARS maintenance, then the problem may be simply that filesystems could not be allocated or expanded to accommodate the number of solutions being processed. Try applying maintenance in smaller increments.
