Easytrieve release 11.6: End of Support Date for compatibility mode?

Issue/Introduction

With the announcement of the discontinuation of technical support for Easytrieve Report Generator release 6.4 (with the exception of the Japanese market) on December 15, 2021, how long will the compatibility functionality which is included in release 11.6 be supported?

Resolution

As of today, we have no dates to be announced. It all comes down to evaluating the needs of our customer's environments and the releases we support, making sure the underlying tech stack is constantly maintained and modernized, especially against security vulnerabilities.

 

However, at this point we are more inclined to keep expanding only the architecture of 11.6 standalone release and drop the compatibility mode, but this may change as we evaluate our long term strategy and our customer's production programs.

 

Being on the true 11.6 compiler (newfunc) is future proof and highly recommended - all the existing development is happening on top of newfunc! We can surely provide any means of help to make the transition to newfunc as smooth as possible.
