How to ensure modified out of the box vendor certification (VC) won't be over-written upon upgrade

Resolution

There is no way to prevent an out-of-the box Vendor Certification (VC) is from being overwritten.

If the modified VC has a version in the Version tag that is equal to or less than an incoming updated VC, then the new VC will be used.

An extension should be used to preserve customizations
