DX Unified Infrastructure Management (Nimsoft / UIM)

Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions for configuring the ntperf probe to monitor Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) on Windows systems using the PhysicalDisk performance object.

Environment

Release : DX Unified Infrastructure Management 20.3+
Component : NTPERF probe - all versions

Resolution

  1. Open the **ntperf** probe configuration.
  2. Create a new profile.
  3. Select **PhysicalDisk** from the **Object** dropdown menu.
  4. Select the desired counters (e.g., Disk Transfers/sec).
  5. Select the Instance from the dropdown.  If you type in *, it will collect metrics for all listed instances.
  6. Select the Miscellaneous tab and check the Value checkbox under the "Quality of Service messages on" section:

Note: This Value checkbox is required to ensure that metric values will be collected and reported to the database each time a value is observed.  If it is not selected, qos_messages will not be generated.
  7. Select OK to save this profile and then OK on the main probe window to save the config and restart the probe.  Metrics should now be collected and saved in the database.
