LOG_DETAILS Table Not Showing Actions Produced in the APP-ACCESS Logs

Issue/Introduction

The job(Tomcat access log import/analyze) runs and completes, however
the LOG_DETAILS table has not been updating in certain environments.



Environment

Release : 15.8.1

Component : CA PPM INTEGRATIONS & INSTALLATIONS

Cause

There could be several issues contributing to the issue.
Listed in the next section are causes and resolutions.

 

Resolution

1. Compare the log settings from working and nonworking environment.
Review the app-access logs to see if it follows the correct format.
Review the Edit Configuration page of the Logs to find out if the logging properties are the different.

2. Review the APP Access logs for additional information appearing, which causes the parsing to fail.


3. Review the job details of the latest job(Tomcat access Log Import/Analyze)
Although it completes, check the details as it can contain errors.

In the example above, the job failed due to a "connection refused to host" error on the IP address/port.

Check with the network team on the report IP and possible ports affected.

Once the job can completes successfully, the table LOG_DETAILS will be updated.
