Failed to install Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error when attempting to install Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 14.3 and later.

Issue/Introduction

You are attempting to install or upgrade to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager(SEPM) 14.3 or later, though receive the error below.

Cause

Symantec Endpoint protection manager 14.3 and later utilizes Microsoft Visual C++ runtime and so Broadcom includes Microsoft Visual C++  redistributable runtime installer in the SEPM install folder vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe

 If one of both of these do not exist, when setup.exe is launched it checks to ensure that these exist and if not will prompt with this error.

Resolution

Ensure that the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime redistributables are in the SEPM install directory.  If not customers should download the installer from the support portal.
