Issue/Introduction

Out of the box, if contact is lost to the device model Spectrum automatically asserts a Suppressed condition on all the child (interface and application) models associated with the device model.

However, if contact is lost to only the application model, Spectrum does not generate an alarm.

This knowledge article discusses how to configure Spectrum to alarm on an application model if contact is lost to only the application model and not the device model associated with the application model.

Environment

Release : Any

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Resolution

By default, MOST application models have the Polling_Interval attribute id 0x10071 set to a value of zero "0". So when Spectrum loses contact with the application model, Spectrum asserts a Suppressed condition on the application model.

To tell Spectrum to alarm on the application model when contact is lost to only the application model, set the value of the Polling_Interval attribute 0x10071 to a value of 30 (seconds) or higher.

This can be done in the DX NetOps Spectrum Modeling Information subview of the application model.
