Email Not Received From NetOps Portal using different email domain

DX NetOps CA Performance Management - Usage and Administration

Issue/Introduction

Correctly configured email setup in NetOps Portal. Tried to email dashboard but it never reached the inbox.

From the log (default path) /opt/CA/PerformanceCenter/DM/logs/DMService.log file we can see the following error.

 com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPAddressFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay

Cause

This can occur when attempting to email the report to a recipient outside the mail server's domain.

Resolution

Try a mail recipient that is in the same domain as the mail server.  You can also try sending email from the command line using sendmail. An example might be:

sendmail [email protected]
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Hi, this is my message, and I'm sending it to you!
.

Sendmail will read you email from standard input. It will attempt to send the email when you enter a single dot "." on a new line and press enter.

Additional Information

If that doesn't help to resolve the problem, generate debug using the steps in the following KB article. After generating the debug gather a logging package via the re.sh script. Open a new case referencing the issue, this KB article and attach the log package with debug for review.
