Question:
- I have BMC JCL in compatibility mode (uses CA utility) to create IMS image copies. If I use the BMC ICPSYSIN parm ICCOMP(N) - no compression, is the image copy created by the CA utility usable as an input to the BMC Image Copy Plus utility, to restore a database?
Answer:
- This question is best answered by BMC, but given that our DBCOPY also CANNOT use an output data set that has been created by BMC's ICP, we therefore believe that BMC's ICP tool cannot use an image copy data set that has been created by DBCOPY.
Additional Information:
- This is true no matter if DBCOPY is using the native job control or the BMC compatible job control (the program code being executed in the end is exactly the same - with BMC jcl compatibility mode the BMC syntax only will be converted to CA syntax before the image copy will be started).
