Issue/Introduction

We are trying to upgrade to 15.9.2+ and hitting the error on checkinstall regarding processes on Risk/Issue/Change objects.

ERROR

Risk/Issue/Change object based Active/On-hold processes found and are listed in file C:\install1592\checkinstall\check-logs\ric_based_processes.txt. Please put those processes on Draft mode before continuing.

Release : 15.9.2+

Component : CA PPM INSTALL AND UPGRADE

Cause

This is caused by a new script introduced due to the new changes in Risk/Change/Impact in 15.9.2.

Resolution

• You must remove all initiated instances for the processes created on Risk, Issue and Change objects. The exact processes that need to be addressed would be mentioned in ric_based_processes.txt file.
• Run Delete Process Instances job for all processes that are Done/Aborted
• Cancel any Processes that are running, then delete them as well 
• Now put all the processes listed on Risk, Issue and Change objects in Draft mode

Now you can restart the upgrade and it will proceed safely. After the upgrade, ensure the custom processes still work as you expect. There should not normally be a difference in functionality but it is advised to test and verify.
