Vantage Storage Resource Manager

Issue/Introduction

This is a first time install of the Vantage Web Client.  The Vantage Windows Client is currently installed and has been in use for some time.  Should the Web Client database be installed as new or as an upgrade of the old Windows database?  Is the Web Client database in any way related to the Windows Client database?  Is there anything I need to do to preserve my Windows configuration before moving to the Web Client install?

Cause

N/A

Environment

Release : 14.0

Component : CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager

Resolution

There shouldn't be any problem with performing a Web Client install with respect to an already existing Windows Client installation.  The Web Client installation process is totally independent of the Windows Client installation, thus there is no real 'information sharing' between the two.  It is possible to have both clients installed 'side-by-side', and they are totally independent of each other.  Concerning the databases, the Windows Client database is not shared or used by the Web Client. The Web Client keeps track of its own data independent of the Windows Client (and there is no process to import the Windows Client data into the Web Client database.  In the Web Client, the Apache-Tomcat database is used to store its data).
