Redirecting IT Analytics to use a new SQL Server environment

Issue/Introduction

After changing the server settings under Settings > Servers in IT Analytics to point to a new Analysis Services server, Reporting Services server, and SQL Server, the IT Analytics web console fails to load.

Environment

Resolution

To correct this issue, follow this procedure:

  1. On the IT Analytics web server, open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and navigate in the Connections pane to Hostname > Sites > IT Analytics Server > ITAnalytics
  2. Double-click the Connection Strings icon under ASP.NET
  3. Double-click the entry labelled BayDynamics.ITAnalyticsServer.Web.Properties.Settings.DatabaseConnectionString
  4. In the Custom field, update the hostname and instance of the SQL Server to match the value specified for the SQL Server Agent setting used in the IT Analytics console under Settings > Servers > SQL Server Agent
  5. Click the OK button
  6. Select the web server hostname in the Connections pane and click the Restart button under the Manager Server section in the Actions pane
