Can the Post Install JCL be generated several days prior to the execution of the JCL?

Question:

I plan on upgrading to a new release of the DB2 Tools soon,  can I generate the Post Install Task JCL ahead of time? What is the impact of doing this?

Answer:

Yes, the Post Install Task JCL may be generated ahead of time. Prior to generating the JCL ensure the Product and Global parmlib members ( SETUPXX, PLANXX, DSNAMEXX,) are up to date as needed. As long as there have been no changes to the parmlib members or environment between the time the JCL is generated and executed there should be no problems.
