LiveUpdate Administrator clu-prod directory unusually large - 0 items reported removed by the purge job

On a LiveUpdate Administrator server, the number of files clu-prod directory is growing unusually large.

In the LiveUpdate Administrator Console, an error indicating the purge job removing 0 items may mean that the purge job is timing out before completion.


To give the Purge job more time to complete, increase the timeout for purge job in the file and restart LUA. 

The initial setting for the purge job timeout is 3600 seconds. Modify to a longer timeout such as 7200 seconds.

  1. Stop the LUA Server
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\tomcat\webapps\lua\WEB-INF\classes\
  3. Open in a text editor
  4. Look for the following property and change as suggested to increase the purge job timeout:
    • cleanup.lock.max.execute.timeout.seconds=7200
  5. Start the LUA Server

Monitor the next purge job to confirm resolved. If purge job fails again, consider a higher value or contact the Broadcom Support team.
