Silent Install - Upgrading Identity Manager 14.2 to Identity Manager 14.4 fail

Issue/Introduction

 

When  trying to upgrade identity manager from 14.2 to 14.4 silently but it failed.  There are no logs or error messages that indicate the issue.

When running the command below,  notice the installer execute Openjdk and the installshield and the die.

ca-im-14.4.0-win.exe -f im-installer.properties -DWEB_EDITION=1 %* -i silent

 

 

Environment

Release : 14.4

Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Cause

This is due to existing deployment has a iam_im.ear.failed file.

Resolution

Make sure deployment did not contain iam_im.ear.failed file and make sure existing IDM is function before silent installation.
