Issue/Introduction

While running the MDB installation, on the step "Configure Microsoft SQL Server MDB", there is a field called 'MDB Instance name', which helps to install the MDB on a named instance, but while using it, the MDB still gets installed on the default instance.

How can I install the MDB on a named instance?

Client Automation 14 and above

Resolution

In order to install the MDB on a named instance, that specific instance must have a port assigned, as shown here:

1.- Create a named instance (on this example, instance name is TESTINSTANCE) and specify an available port for it:

2.- Run the MDB installer and specify the name of the instance and also the port assigned to it:

3.- Once the setup ends, login to the named instance and verify that the MDB got installed correctly:
