Issue/Introduction

Question:

When we upgrade our current release of CA Sysview for DB2 to one of the next GA versions, like r18 or r19, do we have to create new HSTSTATS and HSTACCTG LDS history files, or can we use the history files from the current release?

Environment:

IBM currently supported releases of:

z/OS
DB2 for z/OS

Answer:

There have been no changes to the history LDS data set structure. You should be able to use the HSTACCTG and HSTSTATS LDS history files from your current release.

For example, if you are on the r17 release, in a more current GA release, like r18 or r19.

However, if a future release does implement changes to the history LDS data set structure, this will be noted in the Enhancement section of the product documentation.

And there will be instructions on how to convert your current release history LDS data sets to the new GA release history LDS datasets in the Installation section of the product documentation.

Note: You cannot run both the current release and the new release at the same time against the same history files.
