Issue/Introduction

If the DCS Management Server services are installed on the same host as the SQL Server database, the SQL Server services may not be fully started before the Management Server services attempt to initialize the database pool connections. Some services may not startup correctly after a reboot or at all.

Environment

Data Center Security 6.5

Data Center Security 6.6

Data Center Security 6.7

Data Center Security 6.8

Data Center Security 6.9

Cause

When starting up on the same host machine, the DCS Manager Services and SQL services attempt to start at the same time. As SQL is still starting up, the DCS Manager Services fail to connect the tomcat services to the SQL databases.

Resolution

Change the start up type for each of the DCS and UMC services from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start)

Services to change
Symantec UMC Telemetry Service
Symantec UMC Credential Service
Symantec Data Center Security Server Manager

After changing the services, stop all 3 services and then start them up in the following order
Symantec Data Center Security Server Manager
Symantec UMC Telemetry Service
Symantec UMC Credential Service
