Issue/Introduction

AutoSys installations up to 11.3.6 SP8 would create a ca_lic directory under $CASHCOMP (default location '/opt/CA/SharedComponents/ca_lic').

As of AutoSys 12.0, the ca_lic directory is no longer created. Is there a particular reason for this?

Resolution

The installation of the licensing component, which includes the $CASHCOMP/ca_lic directory, was purposely removed from installations of AutoSys 12.0 and higher as it is no longer used by AutoSys.

Historically, AutoSys Schedulers have not enforced licenses via the ca_lic (ca.olf) since AutoSys 4.0. In version 4.5 AutoSys issued license warnings, but the warning were removed altogether in subsequent releases.

As of AutoSys 12.x, ca_lic is obsolete and has been removed. Broadcom does reserve the right to ask for information to confirm how many Schedulers/Agents you have (via JIL, the compliance app or other means), but otherwise we do not implement a license check to the product.
