Issue/Introduction

When trying to start the Self Service Portal (SSP) IdP service, an "Unable to verify the server time" error is given.

Cause

The SSP IdP service is unable to verify the server time either due:

1. The time on the server does not match the time on the VIP cloud.

2. Network connectivity is stopping the service from contacting the VIP cloud to verify the time.

Resolution

1. Verify the time and time zone on the server are correct and daylight savings settings are applied properly.

2. Verify network connectivity to the VIP cloud

3. Verify the following sites are added as a proxy exclusion and bypass SSL decryption.

• https://ssp.vip.symantec.com/
• https://manager.vip.symantec.com
• https://userservices.vip.symantec.com/
• https://userservices-auth.vip.symantec.com/
• http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com
• http://liveupdate.symantec.com
