Issue/Introduction

Can the MICS backups be used for data analysis? For example, to go after a 01 detail cycle?

Resolution

No, MICS uses SAS PROC COPY to backup the MICS timespan data files.  It is not possible to access individual file cycles from the timespan backup, for example, DETAIL.BATJOB03.  The timespan backup would have to be copied to a temporary disk file where the individual file cycles could be accessed.
 
The alternatives are to use the MICS Weekly Audit or History files, or the MONTHLY history files as these files are created using SAS DATA statements
