Issue/Introduction

Historically Symantec Endpoint Encryption has separate installers for the Autologon client.  If you wanted to take advantage of the Autologon client for Windows upgrade deployments, or Kiosk situations, you needed to create a separate Autologon client installer.

Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.3.1 has now included the Autologon client so it is part of the main SEE Client installer application. Once you have upgraded to the SEE 11.3.1 client, which includes the SEE Autologon client built in, the legacy Autologon client will remain in the programs list.

Resolution

The legacy Autologon client can be left installed on the system as it does not cause any issues doing so, but if you would like to uninstall this from the system, first upgrade to SEE 11.3.1, which has the Autologon client built in, and after this has completed and you've rebooted the machine, then  you can uninstall the Legacy Autologon client from the program list.

Due to the Autologon client being an add-on to Drive Encryption prior to 11.3.1, running a report in SEE Management Server will not yield any results.  Using a product like IT Management Suite (Altiris) will help you build an inventory of all the machines that have the old Autologon installed.  Once you identify all the systems that have the old Autologon client installed, Symantec Encryption Support can provide a script to help you uninstall these on all endpoints automatically.

To have access to this Autologon Uninstaller script to automate the uninstaller operation, please request it from Symantec Support.
