Intermittent Slowness during login to Rally On Premise when using LDAP

Issue/Introduction

Rally is configured to authenticate via LDAP.   At various times it takes several minutes to log into Rally.

Looking at the alm log files the following error is shown:

2021-04-06 00:29:49,497 ERROR [LdapAuthenticationProvider] - Unknown LDAP error
org.springframework.ldap.PartialResultException: nested exception is javax.naming.PartialResultException [Root exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: newbreed.com:389 [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out (Connection timed out)]]

 

Cause

This can be caused when using multiple LDAP servers and one of the LDAP servers is not available

Resolution

This can be resolved by reconfiguring the on-premise appliance to utilize the GC AD server.
